Long-winded rambling about。。。 two middle-aged guys in a mutual appreciation club? The most interesting bits were about history and whisky, all of which was just paraphrased from other sources。Not sure if they realized just how misogynistic and cringe-worthy a lot of their interaction and riffing on each other was。 If you're into overly contrived, boys will be boys (on a paid for road trip), go for it。This might read better as a book, instead of an audiobook。。。Weak 3/5 for the bits taken from oth Long-winded rambling about。。。 two middle-aged guys in a mutual appreciation club? If you like Outlander and are Scottish in heritage, it’s the perfect combination of both。 Very podcast-esque and a great conversation between friends

This is a great book! You really should listen to it, instead of reading it, because the authors narrate it themselves, and it is fantastic! However, if you don't know the Outlander series and still intend to watch or read it, be warned: there are many references to the series in this book, containing spoilers。 That said, if you know the series, it is a bit like a homecoming, spending special time with some of your favourite characters。 This is a great book! I loved this book。 Graham McTavish has got such a witty way of writing and paints a picture that kept tears of laughter running down my cheeks。 Both Graham and Sam were very knowledgeable in Scottish history。 A must read for all。

This was a fun book。 I enjoyed the banter and camaraderie between Heughan and McTavish and it was fun to follow them along on their road trip around Scotland。 Being an Outlander fan, it was enjoyable to follow these two and hear their stories and outtakes from filming。 Not sure if the book would be as enjoyable to someone not familiar with the Outlander fandom。。 but nonetheless it was an entertaining buddy road-trip tale。

a pleasant tour of scotland, it was essentially a book version of the pair's show "men in kilts。" i listened to the audiobook which is how i would absolutely recommend experiencing this。 graham and sam read it together, and i thought hearing it in their voices made for a more interesting experience than reading it in my own head。i give three stars instead of four simply because of the frequency of references to outlander。 i understand that's why a lot of folks will pick up the book, but it didn' a pleasant tour of scotland, it was essentially a book version of the pair's show "men in kilts。" i listened to the audiobook which is how i would absolutely recommend experiencing this。 graham and sam read it together, and i thought hearing it in their voices made for a more interesting experience than reading it in my own head。i give three stars instead of four simply because of the frequency of references to outlander。 i understand that's why a lot of folks will pick up the book, but it didn't add much to what was otherwise a delightful buddy comedy travelogue。 。。。more

It did take me a while to finish this book。 It wasn’t a book that I couldn’t put down, but I did enjoy the banter between the actors of Outlander (Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish) fun。 And I enjoyed more of the history of Scotland and the Highland clans。 Made me want to visit Scotland (had to cancel a trip this spring) but maybe another time。

Great tour of Scotland by two funny guys。 Was not a watcher of Outlander before reading the book but now interested。 They talked a lot about the history of Scotland which had peaked my interest to learn more。

This book was thoroughly delightful while imparting a little wisdom。 It took me a minute to get into it but they are hilarious & the banter was great! Loved the history and peek behind the scenes of Outlander! Nice voices! I’ll listen to r

Super interesting! I got to learn a lot about Scottish history and the clans, and the engaging tones and stories from both Sam and Graham made sure I was never bored! I actually laughed out loud a few times!

Delightful。I have loved all the Outlander books and was pleased when I found this book。 It is entertaining in a humorous way and filled with the history of Scotland。 I look forward to more from these two!

Lovely to hear their Scottish voices narrating the book! Feels like I’m having a conversation with them and listening to their amazing adventures。 You get to hear many stories and learn Scottish history。Definitely recommend to anyone who likes Outlander or Scotland!

Fun, silly travel book, gave me some decent ideas for honeymoon trip。

This book started out fun and interesting and then, sadly, it just got repetitive with Sam and Graham picking on each other。 Not to mention, trying to stuff way too much into one book。 Between all the actual history and pranking/complaining, they had to dish their own history。。。and it just got a little overwhelming, in my opinion。 I was hoping for more of just actual historical facts/stories about Scotland。

This was absolutely fantastic! I listened to the audiobook and it was one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to。 Narrated by the authors themselves their back and forth batter had me laughing out loud。 Their love for Scotland really came through。 I’m not sure what I expected with this book, but it really contained a little of everything…Scotland’s history, stories from each actor of past jobs, their childhoods, a behind the scenes look into their Men in Kilts TV show which is equally fant This was absolutely fantastic! An adventurous banter of creative dialogue that incorporates culture, history and luscious food (as well as luscious men!) I enjoyed the book more than the show due to the added details and imagery。 The book felt more personal and private。

I'm a fan of both the Outlander books & show and I enjoyed Men in Kilts with Sam & Graham。 Even with that, I really did not enjoy this book。 It was boring and ridden with machismo, couldn't wait to be done with it。Audiobook notes: The actors were clearly recorded separately so the times when they were attempting to banter were really awkward。 Only plus was their accents。 I'm a fan of both the Outlander books & show and I enjoyed Men in Kilts with Sam & Graham。 Even with that, I really did not enjoy this book。 It was boring and ridden with machismo, couldn't wait to be done with it。Audiobook notes: The actors were clearly recorded separately so the times when they were attempting to banter were really awkward。 Only plus was their accents。 。。。more

Through the Scottish Highlands, exploring famous landmarks, meeting the ancestors of historical figures, and drinking lots of whiskey, hit the road with Jamie Fraser and Dougal Mackenzie for a road trip unlike any other! The Audiobook version was great - the two voices were very entertaining

Very fun companion book to their show Men in Kilts。 They talk about what they did in the show but they add in Scottish and personal histories and some anecdotes from the Outlander set。 The audiobook really is preferable as we get to listen to their comedic banter and it adds to the fun。 They seemed to occasionally get a bit off topic but a solid book nonetheless。 I’m not sure if non-Outlander and Men in Kilts fans would enjoy it as much; the Scottish history is still in there, but non-fans would Very fun companion book to their show Men in Kilts。 They talk about what they did in the show but they add in Scottish and personal histories and some anecdotes from the Outlander set。 The audiobook really is preferable as we get to listen to their comedic banter and it adds to the fun。 They seemed to occasionally get a bit off topic but a solid book nonetheless。 I’m not sure if non-Outlander and Men in Kilts fans would enjoy it as much; the Scottish history is still in there, but non-fans would probably find the rest a bit tedious。 。。。more

4。5 Stars for Clanlands (audiobook) by Graham McTavish, Sam Heughan, and Diana Gabaldon read by the authors。 This was a great story。 I haven’t seen the authors TV show but I have read Outlander。 There adventures sounded like a lot of fun。 And it was fascinating to hear about their Scottish ancestry。 I hope to catch their TV shows someday。 And I have Dragonfly in Amber on hold at the Library right now。

3。5 stars。 The guys are funny, the history interesting。 It has made me looking into watching Men With Kilts now。

So funny, I laughed out loud many times! Still, I’ve learned many very interesting things about Scottish culture and history。 Definitively more in love with Scotland, and Sam and Duncan! Not always easy for English second-language person because of all the regional expression, but still make it with without too many uses of an English dictionnary

Ok so I have a soft spot with anything to do with Outlander。 Maybe biased in my review。 I recently went to Oban and spent a day driving round Glencoe and visiting the National Trust for Scotland centre which was very informative but not all about the 1692 Glencoe Massacre。 (It's about the mountaineering too!)。 Also visited Glenfinnan Monument which is the raising of the Standard and making there way to Culloden Moor and at the gift shop here was Clanlands。 As I searched my local library's catalo Ok so I have a soft spot with anything to do with Outlander。 Maybe biased in my review。 I recently went to Oban and spent a day driving round Glencoe and visiting the National Trust for Scotland centre which was very informative but not all about the 1692 Glencoe Massacre。 (It's about the mountaineering too!)。 Also visited Glenfinnan Monument which is the raising of the Standard and making there way to Culloden Moor and at the gift shop here was Clanlands。 As I searched my local library's catalogue for anything to do with Scottish mountaineering or Glencoe, I came across Clanlands and requested it。I love the banter between Sam and Graham。 It's written well with little Interruptions from the other and comical name calling but behind all this entertainment is a pride in Scotland and it's history。 The road trip starts at Glencoe and visits various other historical sights in the Highlands。 Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness and of course Culloden Moor。 There are other places too like the area where Rob Roy was too。They travel in the Fiat Fiasco campervan with Sam always driving (always badly that Graham has to hold on for dear life) but they use other methods of transport to make it more appealing and fun。 Kayak, rusty peddle bikes etc which Graham usually refuses just because it's dangerous as Sam may do something funny aimed at Graham。When the history tours come to the fore though, their emotion comes through the narrative writing。 The joking about ends。 The pride shows through。 They are even choked when they come to hear about the battle of Culloden。 Their own ancestors were at this battle。 I was particularly taken with the Culloden battle as there are some things told here that I never knew。 Yes I've been at Culloden visitor Centre but nothing really registered。 Maybe because as that time there was just too many reading boards to work through。 Sam and Graham's history lesson about it really sticks in my mind and made me think "What would life have been like if Bonnie Prince Charlie won the Battle of Culloden?" The dynamic duo reckon Scotland would have been run by Catholicism and Rome! Great insight to Outlander in the book along with involvement of other actors that appeared in Outlander like Gary Lewis who is in the kayak on Loch Ness。 Talking about other actors from Outlander like Tobias Menzies and Catriona Balfe。If you want to know about Scottish history but in a fun and very informative way then Clanlands is for you AND there is the TV series if you want to watch that version。 It's called "Men in Kilts"。 It will be on Starz (Amazon Prime)。Enjoy! 。。。more
